The District Court sentences the person who in the media has been labeled “The Culture Profile” for rape to imprisonment for two years.

[2018-10-01] Stockholms tingsrätt

Stockholm District Court has today given its judgement in the criminal case regarding a person who in the media has been labeled “The Culture Profile”. The defendant is found guilty of rape committed during the night between the 5th and 6th of October 2011 and has been sentenced to imprisonment for two years. The injured party has been awarded compensation for damages.

The defendant was prosecuted for rape committed during the night between the 5th and 6th of October 2011 and rape committed during night between the 2nd and 3rd of December 2011. The prosecutor’s statement of the criminal act charged, in regards to the first rape, is comprised of two different parts.

Presiding judge Gudrun Antemar made the following comment about the decision:

- The Court’s responsibility in a criminal case is to decide whether the prosecutor has proven the charges beyond a reasonable doubt. The evidence in this case has mainly consisted of statements made during the trial by the injured party and several witnesses. The court has made a thorough evaluation of the evidence and the court’s conclusion is that the evidence is enough to find the defendant guilty of one of the events for which the prosecutor has brought charges (first point first paragraph of the indictment).

The range of punishment for rape is a minimum of two years’ and a maximum of six years’ imprisonment. The District Court has fixed the sentence at two years and has also decided that the convict shall remain in custody until the judgement of the court is executable.

The District Court has also awarded damages to the injured party.

The judges in the case have been Chief Judge Gudrun Antemar and three lay judges. The District Court’s decision is unanimous.
